Las Vegas: Exploring Trade Show Trends

Our spontaneous decision led us back to the dazzling lights of Las Vegas, a city known for its excitement. This time, we embarked on a journey to attend the World Market trade show, a hub for all things furniture and home decor. My previous visit to Vegas for a trade show wasn't the best memory – extreme temperatures, indoor smoking, and limited food choices made me really sick. Despite my reservations, I decided to approach this new trip with an open mind, hoping for a different experience. The trade show was really inspiring, and we discovered so many great things. Plus, Vegas was a lot of fun! If you want to read about where we stayed, what we ate and visited, read this blog post.

Getting back to the topic of this article, you're likely eager to find out now:

New trends I’m loving and old ones I still like:

Lime Wash:

While not exactly a "new" trend, I still really love it. I first saw it in Europe and now it's everywhere here. It's often in neutral colours, but this time in darker shades. I like its uneven and raw look. It fits nicely in simple interiors by adding an interesting texture and contrast to a wall, so you don't need a lot of wall decor. We gave it a try at the store – we actually made a "Hack" lime wash wall. Have you seen it?

Organic Shapes: It all began with stoneware and art, and now it's making its way into furniture. I really like this trend. It has a soft, poetic quality and just feels very natural.

Statement Coffee Table: In recent years, we've seen a lot of white, light beige, and soft tones. But this year, things are shifting towards contrast, strong accents, and even creating moody atmospheres. Why not, right? We're really into standout pieces like coffee tables. They add a pop of excitement, individuality, and a central point of interest to living spaces. You know me, I have a thing for stripes, but this combination of stools and a wooden coffee table has truly captured my attention.

Coloured glass: Brace yourself for a burst of colour! Coloured glass is making its way onto tables and into decor. From champagne coupes and cocktail tumblers to vases and jugs, you'll find a rainbow of hues to brighten up your surroundings.

Eggplant: Even though pink is certainly making waves this year, it might not resonate with every interior designer going for that Barbie vibe. Personally, I've been drawn to a rich, deep red – almost like a dark mauve or purple. (Ever notice how tricky it can be to describe a color?) Well, it's something like this:

Last but Not Least, Bouclé: It's practically impossible to miss – almost as if it's making up for lost time from last year. It's everywhere, saturating the scene to the max. I was quite taken with it initially, but I'm starting to grow a bit weary of its omnipresence. Often white or cream Bouclé isn't the most durable fabric. However, I did find these adorable camel stools to be a charming accent amidst the sea of bouclé overload.

Silver: Brace yourself for a surprise – silver is overthrowing brass. It might sound unlikely, but it's happening. I'll leave it at that for now, and in the not-so-distant future, you can revisit this article for more insights. Stay tuned!
